Stachybotrys produces mycotoxins that can cause stronger respiratory and inflammatory responses than common Aspergillus or Penicillium species. We treat it as a higher-containment job by default — full HEPA enclosure, negative-pressure air handling, and post-clearance verification.

Colour alone isn't diagnostic — Cladosporium and Aspergillus niger can also look black. If the mould is on chronically wet drywall, ceiling boards or wood after a leak, Stachybotrys is more likely. We can confirm with on-site sampling if needed.
