- Can I just do the wash and skip the coating?
- Yes — many do. Wash alone protects 3–6 months. If mould-free for a year, keep wash-only. If it moulds up faster (typical for rooms above 70% humidity), coating is the permanent fix.
- Is the black stuff actually mould or just dust?
- In Singapore aircon environments, almost always mould. Dust alone doesn't smell musty or regrow after wiping.
- Is it dangerous to breathe?
- Chronic exposure worsens asthma, allergies, sinus infections — especially in children, elderly, immunocompromised. Don't ignore a persistent musty aircon.
- Can I do the wash myself?
