Abstract
This controlled study compared spore containment during mould remediation using HEPA vacuum sanders vs traditional flat mop methods across 48 remediation projects in Singapore. Results showed HEPA sanders demonstrated 94% reduction in airborne spore release and 87% lower surface recontamination rates, with significantly faster remediation times.
Methodology
48 mould remediation projects were randomly assigned to two groups:
Group A (n=24): Festool HEPA vacuum sanders with integrated dust extraction
Group B (n=24): Traditional flat mop and manual scraping methods
Air sampling conducted at baseline, during remediation, and 24 hours post-completion. Surface swab samples collected from adjacent areas to assess cross-contamination.
